The Family Center of Brooklyn’s Caregiver Program team will share their experience working with kincare families including a discussion of common needs of kinship caregivers and barriers they face accessing care. Presenters will share best practice strategies and low-cost approaches that all types of providers can use to more effectively engage and work with kin caregivers to address their concrete, counseling, parenting and peer support needs.
Marya Gilborn has served as the Director of Social Services at The Family Center for fifteen years. In that capacity, she oversees programming for kinship families, and individuals and families impacted by HIV, as well as other target populations. Marya is a New York City native and received her Masters Degree in Social Work from Hunter College.
Anita Bhattacharjee is the Family Coordinator at The Family Center and works in the WellnessBio: Family Program. She does case management and facilitates support groups for kin caregivers. She also facilitates trauma-informed classes. Anita has a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from NYU Silver School of Social Work and lives in the Bronx, New York City.
