This webinar explores the impact of trauma and intimate partner violence on children and their development. It will describe best practices used to work with children impacted by violence in the home, including an introduction to three treatment models used with children who have experienced trauma. Finally, it offers a set of resources for behavioral and mental health professionals working with children.
For more than 30 years, STEPS to End Family Violence (STEPS) has been providing comprehensive domestic violence services - including group and individual counseling, advocacy, and referral services - to help survivors and their families cope with the aftermath of trauma. The staff helps clients recover from trauma by ensuring their basic needs are met, assisting them in gaining insight into their lives in order to end the cycle of abuse, and supporting them while they rebuild their sense of self-worth.
